The tinning of the coil terminals is a process that requires the correct supply of heat and tin: for this reason, a set-up has been developed that reduces the process time compared to hot iron tinning.
We have in fact created an ad hoc designed inductor, which allows tinning of both terminals simultaneously, connected to a 6 kW generator at 60% power.
The process was monitored and controlled via thermal imaging camera, the closed elongated inductor was positioned under the terminal to allow easy dispensing of the solder.
Temperature measurements were performed using a thermal imaging camera and the set temperature was 380°C. The tin alloy was dispensed using an alloy dispenser automatically operated at the temperature detected by the thermal camera.
This simple and repeatable tinning application is easy to automate to precisely replicate and track every soldering.
