Information about banjo connector (banjo fitting) brazing

Banjo fitting is commonly used in plumbing and piping applications, particularly in situations where a flexible connection and the ability to rotate the pipe around the center hole of the connector is needed.

Some sectors such as agricultural equipment, marine applications or earthmoving equipment require this fitting to be strongly bonded to the pipe and in these cases induction brazing is used.

The induction brazing of the Banjo fitting offers a strong and reliable connection, reducing the risk of leaks or failures in the hydraulic system. Additionally, it can be an efficient method for connecting components without the need for additional parts such as gaskets or threaded joints.

The following equipments are used to carry out the brazing:

  • a Platinum MF15 medium frequency generator with a maximum power of 100%.
  • A closed double loop inductor to make the heating as uniform as possible.
  • a temperature reader connected directly to the generator set to control the temperature of 700°.

With a 7 second heating process, it achieves optimal alloy melting and induction brazing between banjo connectors and steel tubing.

This approach allowed the temperature to be precisely controlled throughout the entire brazing process, ensuring a robust and reliable connection between the connectors and the tubes. The use of temperature reader and the closed inductor, are the  fundamental tools to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the brazing.
