Information on the laser engraving of the insole

For years, there has been talk about insole laser engraving, but what exactly is it, and why is it so highly demanded nowadays?

There are many ways to answer this question, some complex and technical, others related to style and creativity. However, the response we prefer to provide to our customers is actually simple: because the laser cutting of insole improves the entire production process of the footwear industry.

This technique has a profound impact on all processes involved in the production of footwear, as the insole is the skeleton on which all other components must interface to construct a shoe. Starting from this concept, it is immediately apparent that:

  • upstream it is the stylistic choices of the designers that determine its shape and complexity of construction
  • downstream, the precision in construction will influence all assembly phases.

Having an insole capable of accommodating the technical complexities required by modern models, such as inclined eyelets, countersunk holes, welts, intertwined cutouts, is essential to facilitate shoe assembly and reduce errors related to manual operation.

Today it is a shared opinion that assembly time can be reduced by at least 30% through insole laser engraving, ensuring that all highly precise components (lasts, uppers, soles, heels) perfectly align with their supporting structure, i.e., the insole.

In addition, insole laser engraving allows for a significant reduction in material waste during production by reducing cut-off waste from the cutting of the so-called “spiders,” which then need to be glued, further burdening the environment due to the use of solvent-based adhesives.

Our studies show that it is possible to achieve a nearly 20% reduction in material consumption, man-hours, waste, electricity, compared to traditional methods, with a considerable improvement in the quality of life for the operators themselves. It is also possible to perform cutouts and engraving on materials such as ABS, PU, EVA.

The tilting laser system allows for precise determination of the angles of each notch, further enhancing your product.
